It’s been just two weeks since I joined the IPP team at Intuit, and I already know I made a great decision to come here. I’ve got colleagues who are smart, passionate, fun(ny) and dedicated. The campus is beautiful. The products are successful and the roadmap is exciting. But for me, I have to admit that the most exciting thing about being part of IPP is the platform vision, and how it enables an ever-growing and ever-richer ecosystem where everyone benefits – Intuit’s customers, partners, and the larger developer community.
I’m also lucky to begin my Intuit tenure by jumping into the preparations for QuickBooks Connect, scheduled for October 20-23, here in San Jose, California. I love the fact that the event will bring together so many different people from the Intuit ecosystem – accountants, small business owners, entrepreneurs, developers. How often do app developers get to sit down with a bunch of their customers all in one place, focused on the same thing? And how often do customers get to sit down with entrepreneurs and developers and explain their problems/challenges, inspiring them to come up with the next great solution? QuickBooks Connect will be all that – not to mention the great sessions and the Hackathon!
So what does QuickBooks Connect have that’s special for developers, you might ask?
Your $199 ticket to QuickBooks Connect will get you entrance to all keynotes and sessions (30+) on the main conference day (Wed., Oct. 22), including a track of 4 sessions designed specifically for you, the developer. You’ll get an in-depth look at what’s new in the QBO platform (including unveiling a new API). You’ll be inspired by a panel of top accountants as they describe the challenges they and their small business customers face, and learn how you can create apps to solve those problems. You’ll learn tips and get inside advice from the IPP team about how to make sure your app gets noticed, reviewed, and promoted for success. And a panel of some of our most successful developers will share practical guidance and success stories from their own experience that you can leverage in your own app or business.
And what’s this Hackathon you keep hearing about?
The thing that I’m most looking forward to comes before the conference. Your registration fee also gets you entrance to our Hackathon event on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 20 – 21) at no additional charge. The Hackathon is just for you, the QBO developer community. In the coming weeks we’ll provide more details, but the main thing we want is that you build for Apps.com and QuickBooks Online. You can work solo or as a team. We expect to see some imaginative new apps and features developed over those two days, and know we’ll all have a lot of fun in the process. Our IPP team will be there round-the-clock to help you, fuel you, cheer you, and reward you throughout the 2-day marathon coding extravaganza. And we’re lining up an impressive team of judges for the culmination event on Tuesday night, where you’ll have a chance to pitch your creation in a sharktank-like face-off. And yes, there’s an impressive prize package, too. We’ll be telling you about that soon. Just follow this blog to be among the first to know.
I hope you will join us! I’d love to meet you and hear firsthand what you’re up to, what your challenges are, and what we can do with the QuickBooks Online platform and ecosystem to make your business and development work easier and more successful.
