This is a guest post by Gretchen Salyer, Director of Ecosystem Partnerships for Intuit Developer
It’s great to see others catching on to the incredible opportunity developers have to solve critical small business needs in this week’s VentureBeat article on opportunities for developers to build apps for fin-tech. This article reemphasizes a market opportunity that we at Intuit have been aware of for the past 18 months – Financial Institutions offer valuable services, but they are slow to move and aren’t able to offer SMBs the customer experiences they need to actually make their lives easier. Now, more than ever, there is a huge opportunity for developers to connect the dots between financial institutions and the way small businesses want to work with value-added solutions.
We at Intuit have been pursuing this vision with our own products – QuickBooks dramatically improves how small businesses manage their financial lives. But even more we value the importance of 3rd-party developers to make our customers’ lives easier. Becoming part of the QuickBooks Ecosystem as a developer means gaining access to +800K QuickBooks Online customers, hundreds of thousands of accountants, +1M new employees managed within QuickBooks Online and more. We have a vision that every app connects to the QuickBooks Platform and, through this vision we believe can create new and better experiences for the +600M small businesses that fuel the global economy.
Avi Golan, VP and GM of Intuit Developer, recently talked about this vision at the Developer Week conference in San Francisco. Check out his presentation here to learn more about the amazing opportunity for developers to solve real problems for small businesses today.
