Deleting Data from your Developer Sandbox Environment

Since we launched the Sandbox dev environment over a year ago, a frequent feature request has been the ability to delete the data in a given QuickBooks Online Sandbox company.

A couple of months ago, in response to this feedback, we added this feature to the QuickBooks Sandbox. I wanted to take this opportunity to recap this feature.

Deleting Data

You can delete the data for a sandbox via the Manage Sandboxes page. To get to the Manage Sandboxes page after you have logged in, click either the Tools dropdown menu or the dropdown arrow next to your name and choose Sandbox.

The Manage Sandboxes page displays. Next, click the dropdown arrow next to Go to company for the target sandbox, then click Delete all data.

Sandbox-Purge

Be aware that this action deletes all data objects for the target company, including those originally supplied when the sandbox is first created as well as all objects subsequently created via the UI or via the QuickBooks Online API.

    Is there an API call to delete all data for a sandbox?

    We use “delete all data” for automated tests which allows us to create a known state ahead of running the tests. It would be helpful if there was a way to delete all data through an API call so the automated tests could invoke this.

    after deleting, i get errors saying objects still exist, but they are not in the company file. why and how do i avoid this?

      Hi Tim,

      At times we have seen this issue occur and the recommendation is to logout of the sandbox company and log back in. If the issue still exists please contact our support team and they should be able to help you out.

    How do I disable the sandbox account? I want to close that company

    How do I delete a sandbox company? I have too many and everytime I authenticate the rest api I’m presented with a list.
