Meet Tanya Vlahovic, Head of Engineering for 3P Ecosystem Experiences at Intuit

Here at Intuit, we’re all about delighting our customers. We call this customer-first approach “Design for Delight”, and it ensures that every Intuit solution—from QuickBooks and TurboTax to Credit Karma and Mailchimp—provides the people, businesses, and the communities we serve with the financial confidence they need to prosper.

Our ability to continually meet the uniquely evolving needs of each customer is made possible thanks to the expertise of Intuit team members who share a common desire to help others succeed. Building on this tradition of excellence, we recently highlighted the addition of Ken Chestnut to Intuit’s leadership team. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing our community to another valued member of our leadership team, Tanya Vlahovic.

Tanya’s history

Before joining Intuit in 2023, Tanya led the architecture team for the externally facing developer experience (DX) at Salesforce. While there, her focus was on defining the DX strategy and API standards to enable developers to successfully integrate with the company’s newest product, Data Cloud. According to Tanya, her time there was centered on ensuring that one of the world’s largest SaaS ecosystems could deliver a cohesive and high-quality experience for third-party developers, no matter which Salesforce product they integrated with.

Prior to Salesforce, Tanya worked on eBay’s 3P developer program. At the time, eBay was ready to reimagine how it engaged with developers. Her role was to rebuild trust and delight in eBay’s developer ecosystem while uncovering new revenue opportunities that positioned developers as true growth partners.

For Tanya, working at Salesforce and eBay reinforced her desire to create a developer-centered ecosystem.

“These experiences gave me a front-row seat to see how thriving developer ecosystems are built. I learned that they’re not built on technology alone, but through trust, consistency, and mutual value,” she says. “That’s what drew me to Intuit: the opportunity to help shape a modern third-party developer ecosystem from the ground up, with developers at the center of how we scale and innovate.”

Tanya’s role and her thoughts about the 3P app developer community

To learn more about Tanya, we asked her a few questions about her role at Intuit as well as her thoughts about working with developers, the power of AI, and the future of Intuit. She did not disappoint!

Q: You’ve had a very successful career, and we couldn’t be more excited that you’re a part of the Intuit leadership team. What’s your role at Intuit and what are your priorities for the upcoming year?

I lead engineering for our 3P ecosystem experiences, which is all about enabling partners to extend and amplify the value of our platform ecosystem. We recently launched the Intuit App Partner Program, which is the foundation of our global partner ecosystem. This program opens up new opportunities for partners to extend the value of the Intuit developer platform by providing complementary capabilities and value-added services that help solve more problems for our customers.

Looking ahead, my priorities are centered on strengthening our platform to support that vision. That means enhancing core capabilities, building the right integration points, and providing the building blocks partners need to create innovative solutions.

Ultimately, my role is about empowering partners to delight our mutual customers with integrated QuickBooks solutions while driving growth together.

Q. Your role has you working closely with 3P developers and their applications. What’s your perspective on the importance of these applications for QuickBooks customers and the accounting community, and what do you enjoy most about working with 3P app developers?

Third-party applications are critical to delivering the full value of QuickBooks to our customers. Every customer has unique needs. By opening up our platform, we enable partners to bring specialized solutions—from industry-specific tools to advanced automation—that complement and extend what QuickBooks offers out of the box.

What makes these integrations so powerful is the deep domain expertise that third-party developers bring. They understand our platform, and the nuances of specific verticals, industries, and use cases. When we collaborate with our partners, we can innovate faster, so our customers benefit from the capabilities of the Intuit developer platform sooner. In many ways, third-party apps help transform QuickBooks from a product into an ecosystem—one that grows and adapts with our customers as their needs evolve.

I love the creativity 3P developers bring. They constantly find new ways to solve problems for customers, often in ways we wouldn’t have imagined ourselves. Their deep domain expertise, whether in specific industries, verticals, or emerging technologies, pushes the ecosystem forward and makes our platform stronger.

I also appreciate the collaborative spirit of the developer community. When developers experiment with new capabilities, push the limits of what our platform can do, and share feedback along the way, ‌it feels like we’re collaborating to build something greater. A partnership where everyone is focused on delighting customers is what makes my job rewarding.

Q. Focusing on delighting customers is definitely rewarding. It’s also rewarding to watch communities transform. During your time at Intuit, how have you seen the 3P app developer community evolve?

It’s been an exciting period of transformation. We’ve taken some big steps to modernize how we engage with developers and set the foundation for a thriving global ecosystem.

We released a modern developer portal in the fall of 2024, making it easier for developers to discover resources, access tools, and get up and running quickly. On the platform side, we introduced new APIs in 2025 that developers have been asking for. And with the Intuit Developer Council, we have a structured way to collaborate more deeply, gather feedback, and shape the future of the ecosystem together.

Q. As you continue growing and supporting Intuit’s 3P app developer community, what’s your advice for them?

I have three primary tips for 3P developers:

  1. Start with the customer. The most successful apps solve real problems for small businesses and accountants, creating concrete value in their day-to-day work.
  2. Lean into what makes you unique. Whether it’s deep expertise in a specific industry, innovative use of emerging technologies like AI, or new ways to simplify complex tasks. Those differentiated insights are what make the ecosystem thrive.
  3. Take advantage of what’s new on our platform. Experiment with the APIs we released this year, use them to deliver new experiences that delight our mutual customers, and give us feedback.

Above all, think of your engagement with Intuit as a partnership. We’re building a foundation together to shape what’s next for the developer ecosystem.

Q. Speaking of what comes next, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is still a hot topic. In fact, you mentioned it briefly in your answer to the previous question. What excites you the most about AI and how it can empower 3P developers to build innovations for our customers?

AI is transforming what’s possible for our customers and for developers building on our platform. At Intuit, we’re pushing hard toward offering more “done-for-you” experiences. We’re doing this by moving from providing tools that simply help customers complete tasks to offering intelligent systems that deliver outcomes on their behalf.

Intuit’s new AI agentic capabilities are a key part of this shift. These new capabilities allow QuickBooks apps to move beyond providing insights toward effectively taking actions. This creates solutions that are more proactive, personalized, and valuable. For third-party developers, this opens up two powerful opportunities: leveraging AI-based tools to integrate with our platform faster and more efficiently than ever before, and using AI to deliver innovative customer experiences.

When you combine Intuit’s AI infrastructure and data capabilities with the domain expertise and creativity of our developer community, you get something greater than the sum of its parts. You get breakthrough experiences that delight customers and drive the developer ecosystem forward.

Tanya’s view on the future of Intuit

“What excites me most is the opportunity to build a truly global ecosystem where our platform, our partners, and our AI capabilities come together to deliver breakthrough experiences for customers,” she says. “The combination of collaboration and innovation at scale is what makes this next chapter so compelling.”

She adds, “With the foundation we’ve laid—from the Intuit App Partner Program to our modern APIs and developer experience to our AI agentic capabilities—the possibilities ahead will continue to expand as we innovate together. Onward and upward!”

Onward and upward, indeed. Tanya’s passion for equipping our third-party app developers with the tools, resources, and support they need to help our customers prosper makes her a perfect fit for Intuit.

We’re excited that you’re a part of our team, Tanya, and we can’t wait to grow our global ecosystem with you!
