Empowering individuals and businesses around the world with best-in-class products designed to help them prosper is Intuit’s enduring mission. At Fishbowl, we’re proud to partner with Intuit, integrating our manufacturing, warehouse, and inventory management software seamlessly with QuickBooks and helping Intuit further its mission.
Our partnership includes growing our knowledge of and sharing our expertise with the Intuit community through its various conferences. As Fishbowl’s Chief Evangelist, I, along with my team, had the pleasure of attending Intuit’s Developer Day 2025, which took place on October 24 at Intuit’s Mountain View location.
This was not your everyday get together. Instead, it was a compelling event that drew product leaders, engineers, app developers, and go-to-market teams that are relentlessly seeking ways to serve their customers better. Because I believe other app developers should participate in Developer Day events, here are some key takeaways I hope will encourage future participation.
Developer Day: The Heartbeat of the QuickBooks Developer Ecosystem
For me, Developer Day is the heartbeat of the QuickBooks developer ecosystem. It’s where we learn about new innovations and the amazing resources available to us within this community while also aligning ourselves around our shared purpose: delivering faster customer outcomes through technology.
More than a networking opportunity, Developer Day helped us strengthen relationships with the Intuit developer and platform leadership teams. We gained deeper insight into upcoming platform capabilities for QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite. And we explored co-development opportunities with complementary app providers.
During Developer Day, we saw firsthand how Intuit is improving its advanced platform, but the standout theme was platform extensibility at scale. For example, Intuit is doubling down on APIs, data unification, AI capabilities and developer tools that make it easier to build connected, workflow-centric solutions. This includes expanded support for tagging transactions and records, which creates a clean financial backbone for multi-entity, departmental, and job-level reporting and is critical for product-based mid-market customers who manage inventory and manufacturing operations.
In addition to all this, we at Fishbowl were also able to validate our product roadmap with Intuit’s Big Bets, which are Intuit’s core strategies for staying focused on delighting customers. The two that resonated most were “Revolutionize Speed to Benefit” and “Disrupt the Mid-Market.”
As we learned how to implement these principles, we also learned how to connect our strategy with execution, ensuring that we build not just 3rd party integrations but dependable, co-developed, and end-to-end solutions that can scale with our customers.
In-Person Connections Lead to Better Partnerships
During Developer Day, every attendee has multiple opportunities to have face-to-face conversations. These conversations serve to quickly cement relationships that could otherwise take months over email.
The biggest relationship-building benefits delivered by Developer Day benefits include:
- Human connection: Behind every API call is a partner ecosystem built on relationships. The mix of AI+HI (human interaction) is the magic we so deeply appreciate from the Intuit team.
- Real-time problem solving: Whiteboarding with another app partner or Intuit engineer leads to deeper clarity.
- Strategic alignment: Attendees walk away with shared plans, not just shared business cards.
- Partnership acceleration: Great ideas become signed integrations, joint webinars, or GTM programs faster.
Developer Day reinforced that the QuickBooks ecosystem wins when we build together—and FY26 is shaping up to be a massive year for collaboration across operations, accounting, and fintech.
The Role Developers (and Fishbowl) Have in Driving Future Success for Accounting Professionals
Attending Developer Day reinforced something we already knew: Today’s accounting professionals rely on modern accounting tools more than ever, and the future of accounting is workflow-driven and data-connected.
Developers aren’t just writing code—they’re building automation that lets accountants move from being historians to strategic operators where forecasting, demand planning and AI driven cost savings are table stakes. Developers are enabling standardized and auditable processes that reduce risk, data synchronization across platforms to improve financial accuracy and the automation of manual work, like reconciliations, cost adjustments, and inventory movements. Additionally, developers are creating advisory-ready dashboards that free accountants to drive decisions, not transactions.
Technology will never replace accountants, but accountants who embrace technology will absolutely outpace those who don’t. Intuit Developers are giving them that edge as are those who lean in and align further with that effort with support for key verticals, niche industries, and complex workflows, like Fishbowl.
Fishbowl extends QuickBooks beyond finance into operations, giving accountants full visibility into what drives profitability at an item-by-item level. By integrating inventory, manufacturing, eCommerce and fulfillment workflows directly into QuickBooks Online Advanced and Intuit Enterprise Suite, Fishbowl helps accounting teams:
- Automate COGS and inventory valuation with LIFO/FIFO, Average, Standard and Actual (True) cost option, and industry best landed cost control and reporting.
- Bring discipline to work orders, BOMs, and production scheduling, compliance, audit / traceability tracking.
- Eliminate spreadsheet chaos with real-time inventory accuracy and mobile solutions to capture in the moment.
- Reduce errors and manual entries with barcode scanning across warehouses.
- Sync clean, auditable data back to QuickBooks for accurate financials every month with no additional effort – Automated data sync keeps Fishbowl and QBO / IES lockstep in all things inventory, manufacturing, sales, shipping and purchasing.
Fishbowl is becoming a bridge for thousands of businesses scaling from desktop to cloud without having to switch to ERP solutions outside of Intuit. Keeping QuickBooks at the heart also keeps accountants and consultants at the center of business transformation for their clients.
Together, Fishbowl and QuickBooks are helping businesses unlock their full potential, and thanks to events like Developer Day, we’re taking our efforts to the next level!
