Who’s Coming to the Hackathon?

Only 5 days till we convene in San Jose for the QuickBooks Connect 2014 Developer Hackathon! Are you registered? We’ve had an incredible response and are basically near or at capacity. We’re really excited and eager to work with all of you to build some amazing apps and projects together next week.

If you haven’t started packing yet, take a moment to read this Hackathon FAQ to make sure you’re bringing all the right things with you.  Still have questions after reading the FAQ? Add them in the comments below or tweet us at @IntuitDev (yes, that’s a new handle).

Also, please take another look at the official rules. We’ve clarified a couple things about the prize categories and other requirements, based on questions from you that we’ve received in the past weeks.  Still have questions? Add them in the comments below or tweet us at @IntuitDev.

Are any of you wondering who the judges will be for the hackathon? We’ve got a great panel of 5 judges representing VCs, Accountants, and Small Business.  I know I’d be thrilled just to meet them, let alone pitch my app to them:

David Weiden: David is a partner at Khosla Ventures, where he focuses on consumer Internet, enterprise, advertising and financial services. A number of his investments have led to significant acquisitions or achieved initial public offerings including Climate Corporation [acquired by Monsanto], RingCentral [NYSE: RNG], Yammer [acquired by MSFT] and YuMe [NYSE: YUME]. David has been recognized by Fortune and Forbes as one of the top investors under 40.

Kaydee Peterson: Kaydee is the founder and CEO of Peterson Business Services and serves  small businesses by supporting their accounting and administrative needs. Kaydee holds several Advanced and Advisor certifications, including QuickBooks (Pro, Premier, Advanced, Enterprise, Point of Sale, Online). Kaydee is also a member of the Intuit Trainer-Writer Network, an elite consortium of advanced QuickBooks users who write training and certification exam materials and lead training seminars offered by Intuit Academy online.

Rhonda Abrams: Rhonda is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, and USA Today columnist. She is one of the nation’s foremost small business experts, and has helped more than a million entrepreneurs start, grow and run companies and continues to mentor today.

Sanjeev Aggarwal: Sanjeev is Co-Founder and Partner of SMB Group, a technology industry research, analysis, and consulting firm focused on technology adoption and trends in the small and medium business (SMB) market. Sanjeev’s breadth of experience spans software, hardware, and services solutions for SMB, mid-market, and Fortune 500 companies. He provides advisory and consulting services focused on cloud computing, managed services, virtualization, storage systems, and business and collaboration applications. He covers both the supply and demand side; analyzing data from vendors, end-users and channel perspectives.

Matt Hollaren: Matt is General Partner at Cloud Apps Capital Partners. He was the first venture capitalist to frame the Business Freemium and the Enterprise Cloud models. He is considered an expert in cloud platforms, marketplaces and ecosystems. Matt has 12 years of operating experience in successful business application companies including salesforce.com, 9 years of venture capital and private equity experience, and a highly relevant network. He has walked in the shoes of founding teams at each stage of a business application company’s development – no customers, initial traction, scaling the team, market leadership, and global expansion.

Ready to code? Ready to pitch?  Read through the FAQ and the rules  again, and get started packing!

See you in San Jose next week,

Lisa Rathjens
