Building Connections: How to Leverage an Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor to Improve your Small Business App

You’ve built a new integration between your small business-focused application and QuickBooks Online. You’re starting to test it out with a few small business customers, but you’d like to get more feedback and validation that you’re solving a real customer pain point.  What else can you do?

Leverage a QuickBooks ProAdvisor!

What is a ProAdvisor? Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors are independent CPAs, accountants, bookkeepers, computer consultants, and trainers who work with small businesses. They are considered QuickBooks experts because they have successfully completed comprehensive and rigorous QuickBooks training developed by Intuit. ProAdvisors help businesses get started and can customize QuickBooks for each business’s unique needs. When you talk to a ProAdvisor, you’re essentially talking to tens if not hundreds of small businesses at one time.

You can search for a ProAdvisor by zip code (and distance from that zip code).

Once you see the results, you can dig in further to see reviews and certifications (QuickBooks Online is the key certification to check for).

Clicking deeper into the ProAdvisor profiles, you can also see details on any industries they specialize in and what services they offer. Depending on your application, you might want to look for someone more general or someone more specialized.

Once you’ve found one or more accountants from whom you want to get some insights, reach out to them via the email address or phone number they have listed. You can even send them a message directly from within the Find-a-ProAdvisor tool. Ask if they are willing to meet you and give you feedback on your app. Be sure to offer to buy them lunch or coffee; the insights you’ll get are sure to be worth that small investment!

Does it work? It sure does! At last year’s QuickBooks Connect conference, Shaun Clark from InvoiceSherpa talked about his experience getting feedback from accountants and how it made his app (and him) so much more successful.
