As part of Intuit’s ongoing commitment to providing developers with the tools they need to succeed, we’re excited to announce the availability of a new feature in the Intuit Developer Portal: the API usage chart. This chart is designed to provide developers with clear and actionable insights into the API usage of their apps, enabling more informed decision-making and optimization of app performance.
What is the API usage chart?
The API usage chart is a powerful tool that enables developers to monitor and analyze the API calls their apps make over time. This includes data on the number of API calls made, which are categorized into Core and CorePlus. You can find more information about how we categorize our APIs here. With this data, developers can track usage patterns, identify potential bottlenecks, and help ensure their apps are running efficiently. We began tracking API usage data on May 17, 2025.
Accessing the API usage chart
To help you get started, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to access the new API usage chart:
Step 1: Sign in to the Intuit Developer Portal.
Start by signing into your developer account at https://developer.intuit.com.

Step 2: Select the Workspace where your app is located.

From the list of apps in your Workspace, select the app you want to view analytics for.

Step 3: Select the Analytics tab.
On the App Overview page, find the ‘Analytics’ tab.

Step 4: Toggle to Production.
Toggle the environment to ‘Production’ to see the new API usage chart showing your app’s API usage. This data starts on May 17, 2025, so you can view both historical and current usage.

Note that the API usage chart is only accessible to the Owners and Admins of the Workspace where the app is located.
Understanding data aggregation on the API usage chart
To help you better understand how the data is aggregated, we’ve outlined a few different look-back periods below.

- Previous 24 hours:
- This look back data is aggregated hourly, up to the previous 2 hours, providing insights into activity in the past 24 hours.
- Previous 7 days or previous 30 days:
- This data is aggregated daily, up to the end of the previous day, providing a comprehensive overview of daily metrics within the last week or month.
- Previous 3 months:
- Data from the last three months is aggregated weekly, up to the current week, providing a broad perspective that’s ideal for identifying long-term trends.
Understanding API categories
To get a deeper understanding of what comprises Core API and CorePlus API categories, you can select the ‘About API categories’ link from the Analytics chart view. You can also get more details about the API categories by clicking here. This will provide detailed descriptions and examples of the APIs included in each category, helping you to analyze your data more effectively.

What does this mean for developers?
With the new API usage chart, developers have a direct window into how their apps interact with QuickBooks Online APIs. Whether you’re optimizing existing applications or developing new ones, this tool is designed to provide the insights you need to build more robust and efficient apps.
